SQLSTATE[HY000]: General error: 1205 Lock wait timeout exceeded; try restarting transaction

MySQL sometimes reports this delay exception.

I. Problem Analysis

Firstly, the appearance is that the execution time of SQL is too long, which leads to the default delay longer than the database settings.
If analyzed, it is true that some transactions are delayed too much. The analysis ideas and steps are as follows:

II. Solutions

Adjust lock wait timeout value
Adjustment parameter: innodb_lock_wait_timeout, default is 50 sec

mysql> show variables like 'innodb_lock_wait_timeout';

This parameter can be raised:
vim /etc/my.cnf

[mysqld]
innodb_lock_wait_timeout=120

Then restart MySQL.
If MySQL cannot be restarted, you can set global variables to take effect immediately.
SET GLOBAL innodb_lock_wait_timeout = 120; 

You can also set it to take effect only for the current session:
SET innodb_lock_wait_timeout = 120; 

Secondly, if it can not be solved by the above way, we can pay attention to whether there is a deadlock phenomenon.
